Lonesome Pine Bluegrass Band "Bluegrass from the Roots Up!"

Centered in Greeneville, TN the Lonesome Pine Bluegrass Band has been together since 1991. Several members, at one time or another, were members of the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass Band.The band has performed in many venues to include:

  • Iris Festival (Greeneville, TN)
  • Funfest (Kingsport, TN)
  • The Carter Fold (Hiltons, VA)
  • Downhome (Johnson City, TN)
  • Capitol Theatre (Greeneville, TN)
Lonesome Pine prides itself in not only playing bluegrass standards popularized by the likes of Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs and the Stanley Brothers, but also the more contemporary stylings of the Lonesome River Band, Blue Highway, Hot Rize, IIIrd Time Out and the Nashville Bluegrass Band. When experiencing a Lonesome Pine performance, don't be surprised to find yourself tapping your foot to a traditional instrumental such as Foggy Mtn. Breakdown one minute and then singing along to a Kingston Trio tune the next. The band's ability to delve into bluegrass gospel, to include songs performed "acapella", has prompted many performances at area churches.
